Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the context of advances in control systems, AI has found significant applications. The improved hardware capabilities have enabled more sophisticated control algorithms based on AI to be implemented. For example, in industrial process control, AI models can better predict and adjust system parameters to achieve more efficient and accurate control, enhancing the performance and stability of control systems. The integration of AI with control systems has also led to innovations in areas like robotics and autonomous vehicles. AI algorithms help in the better perception, decision-making, and control of these systems, making them more reliable and adaptable in different environments. This has been possible due to the advancements in hardware that support the computational requirements of complex AI-based control strategies.

In the field of control systems, the research on AI-related models and algorithms is not only focused on improving performance but also on ensuring robustness and safety. With the increasing complexity of controlled systems, AI offers new solutions for fault detection, diagnosis, and recovery, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity and reliability of control systems.

The combination of AI and control systems also opens up new possibilities for energy management and optimization. By using AI techniques, control systems can better manage energy consumption in buildings, industrial plants, and other applications, contributing to sustainable development. This is an important area of research as the demand for energy efficient solutions grows.

The development of AI in control systems also requires new methods for system identification and modeling. AI-based approaches can provide more accurate models of complex systems, which are essential for designing effective control strategies. This is an area where further research is needed to fully exploit the potential of AI in improving control system performance.

The purpose of this Special Issue is to broaden the research scope of artificial intelligence in various academic circles, which includes, but is not limited to, the following scopes related to advances in control systems:

  1. Artificial intelligence control;
  2. Image processing and classification;
  3. Reinforcement learning;

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
