Smart wearable devices have emerged as transformative tools across industries, integrating advanced sensors, wireless connectivity, and data processing capabilities. This Special Issue provides a comprehensive overview of the design principles and applications of smart wearables. From healthcare to sports, and fashion to lifestyle, these devices have the potential to revolutionize various domains. By exploring their impact and possibilities, this Special Issue aims to shed light on the transformative potential of smart wearables. The overall focus of this Special Issue is divided into four sections as explained below:

Section 1: Design Principles of Smart Wearable Devices

The first section focuses on the fundamental design principles of smart wearables. It emphasizes the importance of user-centered design and seamless integration into everyday life. Key considerations such as ergonomics, power management, data security, and durability are discussed. Interdisciplinary collaboration between engineers, designers, and human–computer interaction experts is highlighted as crucial to creating wearable devices that are both aesthetically appealing and functionally efficient.

Section 2: Healthcare Applications

The second section delves into the wide range of healthcare applications for smart wearables. These devices can monitor vital signs, track physical activity, and facilitate remote patient monitoring. Integration with artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms enables early disease detection and personalized health interventions. Challenges and ethical considerations associated with wearable healthcare technology are explored, highlighting the need for data privacy and reliable algorithms.

Section 3: Sports and Fitness Applications

The third section focuses on the impact of smart wearables in sports and fitness. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
