Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Global warming and climate change are big challenges for human beings. These challenges impact decision making in areas of water crisis, such as water resources allocation, agricultural water management, water and food security, etc. Having accurate information about the quantity and quality of water in the soil is of great importance topics when dealing with water crisis issues. Therefore, studying soil moisture dynamics can improve our ability to monitor and estimate water content in the soil environment.
In this Special Issue, spotlighting soil moisture dynamics, manuscripts (original research articles, review articles, case studies, commentaries, discussions, technical notes, editorials, forums, short communication, and book reviews) are invited to include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- Application of remote sensing to estimate soil moisture
- Spatial and temporal analysis of soil moisture patterns
- Effect of soil organic matter contents on moisture supply capacities
- Dynamics of soil moisture balance components
- Relationship between soil moisture and the productivity of natural vegetation
- Role of soil moisture sensors in smart irrigation
- Soil moisture sensors and precision agriculture
- Evaluation of soil moisture anomalies
- Geophysical measuring in dry and wet soil conditions
- Assessing surface and root zone soil moisture for agricultural purposes
- Climate change and soil moisture variability dynamics
- Importance of soil moisture dynamics in ecohydrology
- Investigations of vegetation-soil moisture feedbacks
- Effect of elevated CO2 on soil moisture dynamics
- Modeling soil moisture dynamics and runoff for hillslopes
- Hydrological response of watersheds to soil moisture dynamics
- Precipitation, soil moisture, and evapotranspiration chain
- Soil moisture and plant stress dynamics
- Analyzing soil moisture variations using big data
- Importance of groundwater resources on soil moisture dynamics
- Simulation of soil moisture variations in geosciences
- Global and regional sensitive analysis of factors influencing soil moisture dynamics
- Modern algorithms to predict soil moisture dynamics
- Role of water-energy balance on soil moisture dynamics
- Using isotopes as tracers of soil moisture dynamics
- The ability of climate reanalysis and land surface models to capture soil moisture dynamics
- Monitoring soil moisture dynamics toward sustainable development

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Geosciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue
- Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
- Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
- Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
- External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
- e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
