Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cut flower production is the largest part of floriculture. Cut flower growers and sellers are always seeking out innovative trends that will increase their sales. In the complex globalized market, cut flower consumption varies significantly among different societies, cultures and traditions. In this Special Issue (SI), we aim to record the most recent advances in propagation, plant protection, sustainable and eco-friendly cultivation, postharvest handling and storage, improvements of vase life and quality and consumer perceptions on cut flowering stems and cut foliage. Research in this field may focus on, but is not be limited to, the following major topics: (1) propagation (e.g., in vitro, stem cuttings, seeds, and bulbs); (2) innovative cultivation practices and techniques (e.g., irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management, environmental control, fertilization and plant growth regulation (PGR) treatments; (3) CO2 footprint and lifecycle assessments; (4) postharvest physiology and improvement of handling and quality (e.g., postharvest treatments such as low temperature storage, anti-ethylene, vase solutions, packaging, etc.); (5) new market trends, trade and distribution channels, and sale increase opportunities; (6) case studies on consumer preferences for cut flowers, cut foliage, floral arrangements and other products.
