Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Contemporary standards of clinical practice refer to the postulates of evidence-based medicine (EBM) and consequently postulate the use of evidence-based psychological practice (EBPP). Evidence-based practice assumes that clinical diagnostics and therapeutic effects should not only be based on the clinician's experience, but above all refer to proven, reliable data and contemporary scientific research.

With regard to rare disorders, it is difficult to conduct scientific research verifying the effectiveness of diagnosis and therapies carried out on large groups.

Therefore, we invite authors to submit original research articles, case studies and descriptions/protocols of good practices that address the modern approaches in children's assessment and therapy, including the aspects of:

  1. Experimental and dynamic approaches to diagnosis:
    • The diagnosis of children with severe disabilities;
    • The diagnosis of children with speech disorders, both in terms of understanding and production;
    • The diagnosis of children with multiple disabilities;
    • The diagnosis of children with rare diseases and disorders.
  2. Challenges in clinical diagnosis in children and adolescents:
    • Remote diagnosis;
    • Diagnosis with the use of modern technologies;
    • Interdisciplinary diagnosis;
    • Functional diagnosis;
    • Dynamic assessment.
  3. The diagnosis of cognitive, emotional, social, and family functioning in children experiencing:
    • Oncology;
    • Neurology;
    • Genetics;
    • Chronic conditions.
  4. Models of therapy and development support:
    • Good practices in planning multidisciplinary therapeutic interventions;
    • Development support models in children with serious diseases and disorders;
    • Cognitive and emotional rehabilitation plans.

When preparing a case for publication, please follow the EQUATOR Network guidelines and fill out the CARE checklist below. In the column on the right, please enter the line numbers of the article that contain the information. This will facilitate and speed up the review process. Attach this file as an attachment when submitting the article. Please remember that it is not necessary to include all the information contained in the checklist, only the information that is important from the point of view of a specific case. It is supposed to help in organizing the material related to the described case. In case of doubt, please refer to the detailed guidelines at: https://www.equator-network.org/reporting-guidelines/care/
