Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Ionizing radiation from natural and man-made sources is a ubiquitous influence on our health: from cosmic radiation to medical applications, from occupational to environmental exposures, and from accidental byproducts to deliberate production. Exposure to ionizing radiation may be very specific to particular occupational groups like nuclear power workers, or it may affect large parts of a population like in the aftermath of a nuclear accident. Risk perception and risk communication play a major role in how people accept or reject the dedicated production of ionizing radiation, e.g., in the nuclear fuel cycle or in radiological imaging. Radiation protection aims to reduce health risks to a minimum while enabling careful and optimized use of ionizing radiation where it can be beneficial, such as in medicine.
For this Special Issue, we invite current studies on all aspects of ionizing radiation with relevance to public health, including those that look at novel aspects of radiation protection, or at new features of exposure situations. Studies involving both molecular and traditional epidemiologic approaches are most welcome. Primary studies as well as investigations based on secondary data, and high-quality systematic reviews, are welcome, as are methods contributions that relate to exposure and risk-related studies. We look forward to an interesting Special Issue.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
