Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Contemporary global crises, including climate change, armed conflicts, pandemics, and the erosion of democratic institutions, are disproportionately impacting women and girls, particularly in the realm of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). These emergencies exacerbate existing gender inequalities, restrict access to essential health services, and undermine progress toward gender equity. Despite the urgency, SRHR programs—ranging from modern contraceptive access to comprehensive sexuality education—are insufficiently integrated in interventions designed to enhance women and girls’ health, resilience, and empowerment.
This Special Issue of IJERPH seeks to address the gap in integrating SRHR into effective and sustainable crisis responses. It aims to highlight innovative research exploring the intersections of SRHR and contemporary global challenges.
The focus goes beyond emphasizing the need to protect women and girls to also examining how robust, well-integrated programs, policies, and advocacy efforts can strengthen crisis responses in both the short and long term. By exploring actionable strategies and emphasizing the transformative potential of SRHR interventions, this collection seeks to inspire solutions that enhance resilience, equity, and empowerment for women and girls worldwide. We welcome submissions from diverse disciplines and methodologies, emphasizing actionable insights and inclusive approaches.
