Section Information
Biomedical and health informatics is "the interdisciplinary, scientific field that studies and pursues the effective uses of biomedical data, information, and knowledge for scientific inquiry, problem solving and decision making, motivated by efforts to improve human health", as defined by the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA). As subdisciplines, the medical and clinical informatics section focus on the advancements in both methods and applications of informatics and information technology to improve the delivery of healthcare services. In particular, this section is interested in contributions that study, design, implement, and evaluate informatics systems such as clinical decision support systems for improving patient care, strengthening the clinician–patient relationship and promoting shared decision-making, improving clinical workflow efficiency, among others, with the ultimate goals of enhancing individual and population health outcomes. We welcome all types of contributions including original research articles, reviews, letters, and commentaries that cover all aspects of medical and clinical informatics.
