Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The rise in digital platforms and social media has led to an explosion of unstructured textual data, providing businesses, researchers, and policymakers with valuable insights into public opinion, consumer preferences, and societal trends. Sentiment analysis, a key branch of natural language processing (NLP), is a powerful tool for extracting subjective information from large amounts of text. By analysing sentiment—whether positive, negative, or neutral—sentiment analysis can uncover underlying emotions, attitudes, and opinions expressed in customer reviews, social media posts, news articles, and more.

This Special Issue of the Journal Informatics aims to explore the latest advancements in sentiment analysis and its diverse applications across various domains. We welcome papers that address a wide range of topics, including but not limited to, the following:

  • Sentiment classification.
  • Emotion detection.
  • Aspect-based sentiment analysis (ABSA).
  • Fine-grained sentiment analysis.
  • Multilingual sentiment analysis.
  • Sarcasm and irony detection.
  • Sentiment analysis for market prediction.
  • Opinion mining.
  • Domain-specific sentiment analysis.

We invite contributions that highlight both the potential and challenges of sentiment analysis in understanding human emotions and driving data-driven decision-making across various domains.
