Dear Colleagues,
We are inviting submissions to a Special Issue of the Journal of Marine Science and Engineering on the subject of "Perspectives and Challenges in Extracting Offshore Energy" and related topics.
During the last decades, changes in the climate have become more obvious, and it is clear that this dynamic is significantly influenced by human activities. For this reason, effective measures for decarbonization are currently being employed by many international and national authorities. Since a great amount of emissions are generated by the energy sector, the shift to green energy represents a very important direction for sustainable development toward a low-carbon future. From this perspective, there is growing interest in extracting marine renewable energy. Finding coastal environments with high potential for extracting energy represents an important objective for the present and near future. The synergies between various offshore resources can lead to reduced resource variability, which in turn would solve the electricity grid's need to receive a stable energy source.
Therefore, the main target of this Special Issue is to improve the renewable energy agenda through enhanced scientific and multi-disciplinary works, aiming to enhance knowledge and performance in extracting ocean energy. We strongly encourage scientific works targeting innovative technical developments, reviews, case studies, and analytics, as well as assessments and manuscripts related to different disciplines that are relevant to the extraction of offshore renewables and related topics.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Journal of Marine Science and Engineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
