Women Mathematician Award
May 12th, the birthdate of Iranian mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani, is now also Women in Mathematics Day. Events are frequently organized to celebrate this occasion, commemorate the achievements of women in mathematics, and to promote gender equality. In alignment with such aims, the journal Mathematics has established the “Women Mathematician Award” to highlight the current achievements of women in the field and to inspire and encourage more women to pursue careers and research in mathematics at large.
Nomination Deadline: 9 March 2025
Winner announcement: 31 May 2025
The Prize:
The winner of the “Women Mathematician Award” will receive:
- A monetary prize of CHF 2000;
- An APC fee waiver to publish a peer-reviewed paper in 2025 in the journal Mathematics;
- A certificate.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Must be women;
- Must have received their PhD;
- Must have produced ground-breaking research and made a significant contribution to the advancement of the field of mathematics;
- Candidates must be nominated by senior scientists;
- Candidates cannot have also applied for the Young Investigator Award this year.
List of Documents for Nomination
- Detailed Curriculum Vitae, including an updated publication list and a list of the researcher’s research grants;
- Scanned copy of doctorate certificate;
- Signed nomination letters from one established senior scientist.
