Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Metallic nanomaterials have emerged as a fascinating class of functional materials with promising applications across various fields, including catalysis, energy storage, sensing, and biomedical engineering due to their unique physical, mechanical properties, and so on. This Special Issue aims to showcase the latest advancements and discoveries in understanding and manipulating their mechanical responses of metallic nanomaterials to develop a set of structure–activity relationships between microstructures, mechanical properties, and deformation mechanisms, which is expected to provide important guidance for property prediction, structural orientation design, and functional optimization in practical applications.

In this Special Issue, original research articles, reviews, and perspectives are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  1. Mechanical characterization: Experimental and computational studies investigating the mechanical responses of metallic nanomaterials, including tensile, compressive, nanoindentation, fatigue behavior, and so on.
  2. Deformation mechanisms: Insights into the deformation and failure mechanisms at different length scales, ranging from atomistic to macroscopic levels.
  3. Multiscale modeling: Development and application of multiscale modeling approaches to predict and understand the mechanical properties of metallic nanomaterials.
  4. Processing and fabrication: Novel fabrication techniques and processing methods to enhance the mechanical properties of metallic nanomaterials.
  5. Applications: Studies highlighting the mechanical performance of metallic nanomaterials in specific applications, such as lightweight structures, impact absorption, and biocompatible implants.
  6. Microstructure design: Investigations into microstructure design to overcome the trade-off between strength and ductility of metallic nanomaterials.
  7. Hybrid nanomaterials: Exploration of metallic nanomaterial-based composites, hybrid materials, and functional coatings with enhanced mechanical properties.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
