Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to introduce a new Special Issue showcasing cutting-edge advancements and recent research regarding the application of geophysical and geochemical techniques in Mining Engineering. Indeed, the aim of publishing this Special Issue is to present and emphasize how these techniques are revolutionizing the efficiency of exploration and exploitation, contributing to sustainable resource development, and reducing the carbon emissions generated by mining activities. Geophysical and geochemical methods have been considered the most significant tools in mineral exploration for several decades. For instance, various identified geophysical techniques, including geoelectrical, electromagnetic, magnetic, gravity, seismic, and ground penetration radar, have been utilized to perform the identification of subsurface structures and the geometry of mineralization potential, estimate the depth of mineral deposits, and explore mining exploitation methods. In addition to geophysical methods, geochemical studies that address the enrichment or depletion of trace elements with a genetic affinity to parent mineralization (Kumar Haldar, 2018) play a critical role in mining engineering.
Whether you are an academic researcher, an industry geoscientist, or a mining professional, we invite you to submit original research, case studies and reviews highlighting the latest breakthroughs and best practices regarding geophysical and geochemical applications in Mining Engineering. Considering the increased application of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) methods in mining engineering, researchers studying the employment of AI/ML/DL in geophysical and geochemical methods are also welcome to submit their manuscripts.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Minerals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
