Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Today, membrane separation technologies are widely used in the petrochemical, food, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industries. Their simplicity and cost efficiency have made them very popular applications. However, crucial to membrane separation technologies are membrane materials. Owing to significant advances in material synthesis, numerous classic and novel materials have been synthesized as membranes to achieve high-performance separation. Thereby, this Special Issue aims to highlight and promote recent advances and give an overview of research activities on advanced membrane materials. This Special Issue on “Recent Progress in Advanced Membrane Materials for Energy and Environmental Sustainability” focuses on the recent theoretical and experimental advances in nanomaterials chemistry, membrane synthesis, processing, characterization, simulation, and improving performance. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: silica, zeolite, MOFs, COFs, and carbon (silicon carbide) membrane materials; novel membrane materials (including organic/inorganic/mixed matrix types); and novel membrane formation methods. Concerning applications, apart from gas separation and liquid separation (pervaporation, filtration), membrane reactors have also been an attractive research topic. In this Special Issue, original research articles, reviews as well as short communications are welcome. We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
