Dear Colleagues,
In recent decades, there has been a growing interest in stimuli-responsive biomaterials. Their responsiveness to biological stimuli (e.g., pH, reduction–oxidation, enzymes, glucose) and externally applied triggers (e.g., temperature, light, solvent quality) affects their internal physicochemical properties and facilitates improved thermal stability/photostability, and tuning the detection sensitivity, accuracy and biocompatibility, which shows potential in various biomedical applications including drug delivery, tissue engineering and diagnostics. In drug delivery, the treatment efficacy of therapeutics is directly related to the administration method, which requires the development of smart materials to achieve precision drug release; the improvement of medical diagnostics requires non-invasive or minimally invasive approaches based on stimuli-responsive materials that allow for real-time monitoring; the growing desire for tissue engineering leads to urgent needs for matrices endowed with the ability to communicate and interact with cells. The development of stimuli-responsive biomaterials will contribute to the prosperity of precision medication.
This Special Issue focuses on the design, synthesis and application of stimuli-responsive biomaterials for theranostics. Both original research and reviews are welcome.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
