Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and the Internet of Things (IoT) have become increasingly important in a wide range of applications, such as environmental monitoring, healthcare, smart homes, and industrial automation. However, the inherent characteristics of these technologies, such as limited resources, wireless communication, and distributed nature, pose significant security challenges that need to be addressed.
This Special Issue aims to bring together the latest research and advancements in the field of security for WSNs and the IoT. We invite original, high-quality submissions that address the security challenges, solutions, and emerging trends in these domains. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Secure data aggregation and processing in WSNs and the IoT;
- Authentication and access control mechanisms for WSNs and IoT devices;
- Secure routing and communication protocols for WSNs and the IoT;
- Intrusion detection and prevention systems for WSNs and the IoT;
- Cryptographic techniques and key management in WSNs and the IoT;
- Privacy-preserving techniques for WSNs and the IoT;
- Malware detection and mitigation in WSN and IoT environments;
- Secure firmware updates and device management in the IoT;
- Secure edge and fog computing for WSNs and the IoT;
- Security and privacy issues in mobile and IoT applications and services;
- Vulnerability analysis and risk assessment for WSNs and the IoT;
- Security and privacy standards, guidelines, and best practices for WSNs and the IoT;
- Case studies and real-world deployments of secure WSNs and IoT systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
