Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The concept of sustainability has been a subject of thorough investigations for many years. Even though the necessity to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations has been changing our lives for a long time, it seems that the changes being faced by the world nowadays has also designated new directions for sustainability. Material uncertainty in property markets and COVID-19-related restrictions affecting societies around the world have opened a new chapter regarding the perception of sustainability. Real estate market development has always been perceived as a complex issue determined by both endogenous and exogenous elements. However, the COVID-19 outbreak included new challenges and provided new lessons. The rapid changes that were taking place in the urban environment have significant impact on urban growth, and has changed its direction. While most cities and urban regions all over the world used to compete to increase residents and visitor satisfaction, it seems that the completely different meaning of safety has now become the most crucial issue. The growing safety requirements and rapidity of introducing new technologies to all aspects of residents’ lives have forced real estate markets to shift from “smart city” concepts to “safe city” concepts. For that reason, more research on socioeconomic approaches to the sustainable development of real estate markets is needed. In this context, this call for papers aims to attract high-quality papers on this issue. Examples of topics include:
- new directions for sustainable development of the real estate market,
- challenges for multidisciplinary analysis of real estate markets due to COVID-19,
- utilization of new technologies for supporting sustainable socioeconomic approaches,
- information technology requirements in the COVID-19 reality,
- COVID-19 disruptions of socioeconomic sustainability and their avoidance.
We invite the submission of original research papers focusing on these and other related topics. The deadline for submission of full papers is 30.07.2021. All accepted papers will be published as soon as they are accepted.
