Join Us at “Veterinary Sciences—An Author Training Program”, 30 October 2024, Yangzhou University, China

In collaboration with Yangzhou University, China, Veterinary Sciences (ISSN: 2306-7381) is hosting an author training session designed to provide valuable insights into the world of open access publishing. The session will cover a comprehensive introduction to the Veterinary Sciences journal, and the editorial process, offering authors the essential skills for structuring papers and replying to reviewers effectively. Additionally, participants will gain guidance on improving their scientific writing, with experts in the field leading the session to ensure a thorough understanding of how to enhance their publishing potential.

Speakers:

Prof. Dr. Patrick Butaye is a veterinary microbiologist. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2000 at Ghent University, Belgium. Thereafter, he worked at the former VAR (Veterinary and Agrochemical Research Center, CODA-CERVA). In 2006, he became a visiting professor at the Department of Pathology, Bacteriology, and Avian Diseases at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Ghent University. In 2015, he became a professor at Ross University and since 2023 has held a position at the City University of Hong Kong, where he is the director of the Global Microbial Genomics STEM lab. In 2024, he was honored with an adjunct professorship at Yangzhou University. He is the author of more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals articles, and a member of a number of different universities and national and international advisory boards.

Dr. Liu Penggang is a master’s supervisor recruited under Yangzhou University's talent-scarce program. He was selected as a Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Deputy in 2021 and served as the leader of the “Qinghe” Science and Technology Volunteer Service Team and the Youth Doctor Team (Jiangsu Provincial Youth League) in 2022.
Currently, Dr. Liu is leading two national projects, including a National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Fund and a sub-project of a Key Research and Development Program from the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as four provincial and ministerial-level projects. He has presented at over ten domestic and international academic conferences. As the first or corresponding author, he has published over 10 academic papers in renowned international and domestic journals such as Metabolites, Veterinary Medicine and Science, and the Journal of Cellular Physiology, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 80. He has co-edited one monograph, received two software copyrights, and contributed to two textbooks under the 14th Five-Year Plan.
In the past three years, Dr. Liu has actively participated in education and teaching, guiding professional competitions, and has received more than eight national and provincial honors. He was awarded the “Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of Gansu Province” for the 2017–2018 academic year and the title of “Outstanding Student” in 2016 by Gansu Province's universities.

Ms. Jie Gu graduated from Beijing International Studies University, China, with a master’s degree in 2013. She joined MDPI as an assistant editor and journal editor in December 2013. She has since served as the publisher of Veterinary Sciences since 2022. She is committed to enabling communication between the journal and global scholars, deepening exchanges and cooperation, providing excellent publishing services to the academic community, and facilitating the dissemination and sharing of scientific research results.

Ms. Raula Brenda Florian works as a Journal Relations Specialist for the Veterinary Sciences journal within MDPI. She studied at Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where she completed her biochemistry bachelor's degree, which served as the foundation for her experience in academic publication. Following that, she obtained a master’s degree in biotechnology at the University of Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
