Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The optimal management of water resources is a crucial issue due to the context of global warming, which is leading to a modification of the hydrological cycle. This draws a complex scenario for the sustainability of water resources, in addition to offering a challenge for the development of innovative approaches. To achieve and facilitate the sustainable and safe management of them, major advance in different fields are necessary, such as new developments based on digitalization, innovative and integrated methodologies, analytical approaches, innovative hydrological/hydraulic spatio-temporal analytical strategies, sediment minimization strategies to reservoirs, forest restoration, as well as pioneering sediment management designs in reservoirs, among others, to improve the resilience of water systems. Manuscripts that cover these fields and related topics are welcomed for this Special Issue (SI) entitled “Advances in Water Allocation and Optimal Reservoir Operation: Artificial Intelligence and Statistical Modelling in Water Resource Sustainability”. The submitted manuscripts will pass through a rigorous and fair review process that assures the highest quality of contributions to this international SI. The existing related literature is largely focused on the engineering aspect of this field; however, many more dimensions must be analyzed and shared with the international community. We strongly encourage the international community of related researchers, engineers, scientists, practitioners, etc., to be part of this essential initiative.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Water is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
