Reviewer 2 Report

Introduction:

i. the authors should improve upon the conceptual literature review on the subject's key concepts under consideration.

ii. some of the aspects will include varying definitions and explanations of urban forests, tree canopies, relevances, and the challenges to keeping them.

iii. The authors can also discuss these concepts in the light of the SDGs 11, 13 especially.

iv. the authors should expand the write-up on the benefits of tree canopies in urban surroundings. what has been provided is too short.

v. The conceptual reviews should be expanded before the authors get into the empirical and case examples. This will improve the conceptual aspect of the work.

2. Problem statement

Before the authors can arrive at the conclusion indicating the research gap, they should indicate some of the research and the areas they covered, and what is left out. This will support the problem statement.

3. Objectives:

They are well written and clear but the Authors should justify the choice of EUTC change between 2014 and 2019 than no other period.

4. Land cover classification

Authors should justify why they left out the coastal water areas

5. there are other minor issues that need to be addressed:

sources of maps and the area it covers should be captured in the title.

authors should explain why the gains in the African American neighborhoods and reduction in the other areas.

Generally, the paper is good and insightful. The analysis is clear and follows the objectives.
