Economic Impact of the Health Insurance System on Slovak Medical Spas and Mineral Spring Spas
Abstract
:1. Introduction
- to analyze the development and changes of financial conditions related to spa treatment in Slovakia in years 2006–2018. We also analyze the percentage of medical spa care expenditure compared to the total health care expenditure of the health insurance companies.
- to determine the proportion/importance of the medical segment covered by public health insurance in relation to the segment of self-payers seeking wellness or medical wellness (care under medical supervision with the use of natural healing springs for balneotherapy).
- to analyze correlations between revenues of spas and after-tax profits of spas with the factors determining their infrastructural and financial environment.
