the paper is interesting and points out the problem associated with the glass of the CRT monitor. Some aspects of the analysis (characterization methodology or procedures applied) are taken for granted and require more details.

In this work, the author compared the effects of two different schemes (particle coating & film coating) in reducing the Pb leachability on waste funnel glass powder. The author claimed the film coating process is an effective technique for the treatment of funnel glass from cathode ray tubes. While the work does have some interesting observations, it falls short on novelty and contains several flaws (see comments below).
- Some of the observations in experiments are interesting but the experiment design is incomplete that the authors didn't get the optimal parameters at all. For example, in Section 3.2 the authors should justify the reason they don't use 4-layer or more SiO2 particle coating conditions, while later 3-layer was outright considered as the optimal condition later. The same issue applies to NaOH treatment optimal concentration.
- While the mechanism of SiO2-film coating is a vital part, there is no supporting evidence provided at all.
- The overall paper is poor-written. For example, reference [10] is wrongly cited, units are not consistent in a few places (e.g. p5 #109-110), abbreviations are not properly explained, and more.

This work is devoted to the processing of spent CRTs, the glass of which contains toxic lead. During normal grinding and disposal, lead gets into the soil and groundwater, which can harm the environment and humans. The authors propose an original, low-cost method for treating glass waste to reduce diffuse lead leakage into the environment. The research will be of interest to the general scientific community, as well as ecologists and technologists who work with glass production and semiconductor industry waste. The work is an important research within the framework of the concept of sustainable development of man and nature and is recommended for publication after some minor typos correction.
