Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1. No clear indication of the research objectives.

2. No description of the innovative contribution of the study's authors in this study.

3. I do not understand the separation of sections 1 and 2. I believe that these sections should be made whole as one section.

4. I think sections 1 and 2 should be systematized and seriously shortened.

5. Impoverished literature was cited.

6. The conclusions do not support the research objectives, as these objectives were not explicitly stated.

Reviewer 2 Report

The undertaken topic concerns the institutional strategies toward sustainable housing management based on the China case study.
The paper is difficult to understand the aim and usefulness of the study. The Paper is very long and is not clearly presented the results that can be implemented. The cited particular comments of managers are quite valuable but for more newsagent articles rather than scientific research.
I cannot find any original, innovative contribution to science, as the authors repeatedly emphasize in the article.
In addition, it is difficult to find any universal measures or results which can be considered and applied beyond the presented case studies.
Additionally, almost all pictures are unreadable and unclear aim of it.

To conclude the study presented in this way, does not constitute a valuable contribution to science that will translate into their citation.

Reviewer 3 Report

Very interesting article discussing social and security issues in sustainable housing and building management for urban and community managers.

Abstract, self-explanatory, explains the background, objectives and benefits of the research, the methods used and the results of the research.

Introduction, especially in the background, the author has very clearly outlined the problems, objectives and benefits of this paper, however, the author needs to reaffirm the significance of the research or the urgency of this research.

The method has also been described with a phenomenological case study approach, it is quite clear in data collection, but needs to be emphasized again in analyzing data in answering the formulation of the problem.

The results and discussion are strong enough to describe that the study findings contribute new insights to the formulation of institutional strategies towards sustainable housing and building management for urban and community managers. However, it needs to be strengthened and reaffirmed novelty from the results of discussions and discussions.

From grammar, grammar, spelling are very good, only need to be improved, the same vocabulary appears, maybe need to find another vocabulary or paraphrase. Some pictures or images are still blurry because they are small, need to be clarified again.

References are complete with updated sources, both books, articles and journals. Just need to check again whether it is in accordance with the template and connect with the citation in the article.

Reviewer 4 Report

Despite the fact that I agree with most of the arguments the authors raised about the gated communities in China, I feel that the paper at its current form is rather a manifest or a political text rather than close to the journal's general context.

The paper has been significantly improved. However is stilll too long, and I can't find the clear scientific questions.

Thank you for your approval and suggestions for our study.

In response to your question, we improved the research questions in the Introduction section.

The study includes two research questions:

1.      Whether the issues of commons management in China’s gated communities can be solved through a systematic solution, such as the development of a commons management model.

2.      How Ostrom’s eight principles are applied to common resources in gated communities.

Please check the content of Page 2, Line 86-89 and Page 3, Page 2, Line 93-94 and Page 3, Line 95-104.

At the same time, we have summarized some texts in the introduction section to make the whole text flow better.

Reviewer 4 Report

The changes / additions and the data analysis as well as the conclusions made the paper more readable and undertsndable.
