Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The title is promising, and the article focuses on delivering those elements step-by-step. The introduction correctly shows the measures of the different COVID-19 elements even if it is rather a literature review in some part, and the chapter 2 is so short that it cannot be considered as a theoretical chapter. Thus, the restructuring of the article is needed. First, the introduction should give an overview of the agenda, after the impact of the COVID-19 on similar geographical areas and cases (including the investigated area), third, the theoretical embeddedness of the applied measures to show how they can be and have been used for similar purposes. Doing so, it will be more clear to the readers why livelihood-related elements (and especially the considered ones) is an important factor from the point of view of the article.

Beyond these basic issues, the vulnerability index is well explained but not offered as comparison points for the present results.

Data collection and sampling are proper; the analysis methodology is acceptable even if the more complex approach is needed to be justified and to be shown clearly in this section. The descriptive statistic is adequate.

Table 3 would be more comprehensive by indicating the significant results with asterisks (and not the standard deviation). The basic explanation can be followed; it is great to see table 4, as all of the former information is quite simplistically showing the characteristics and not offering ground for implications.

It is quite probable that table 5 shows an OLS linear regression, but it should be stated in the title and in the methodology section (what are the independent variables and what are the reference categories), too.

The discussion is acceptable.

The conclusion and implications is insufficient. A more and clearer set of implications are needed regarding the potential interest holders. The limitation section is missing, and so is the future research and discussion.

Reviewer 2 Report

This study investigated the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on livelihoods of households with migration workers. It is found that the livelihoods of all studied households were highly vulnerable due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic with almost 90% at moderate or high risk according to the vulnerability index. The topic is important and the results are meaningful. Please proofread the manuscript carefully as there are some punctuation and grammar mistakes. Abstract also should be improved. In addition, I have two questions.

How to improve the financial, psychological and social assets of these households. It should be discussed in detail.

What can be done to improve the livelihoods of male, younger workers or those with a lower education level and fewer social networks.

After reviewing the applied changes, it is already more clear and supporting the goals.
