Reviewer 2 Report
This is a very competent manuscript. It is well written and presented. The figures and tables are professional and informative. There is an extensive collection of relevant references in complete and consistent format.
The use of remote sensing for water turbidity estimates is complex as reflected in this study. The authors are to be congratulated on an extensive collection of field and remote sensing data. The authors clearly present their data and their extensive analysis. Water turbidity is an important environmental parameter, and this study will be of interest to members of the scientific community.
As with almost every manuscript, there are some editorial suggestions as follows for consideration by the authors:
- An abstract typically contains some of the significant, often statistical, results of the study.
- It is increasingly common in scientific text but this reviewer prefers that personal pronouns (we, our) not be employed.
- The manuscript needs some editorial review. For example, there are a number of sentences that begin with ‘Were’ which is incorrect.
- There is some inconsistent use of serial commas.
- There are multiple awkward or incomplete sentences including for example lines 50, 63, 85 and 97 among others.
- Meters or m? 20m or 20 m? Be consistent and with journal guidelines.
- Line 169. Why are author names included? ) is missing. Long complex sentence.
- Are Tables 2 and 3 cited in the text?
- Table 6 caption needs a period.
- Line 217 RMSE is not defined until line 286.
- Line 299. Figure 6. Not Figures. The use of ‘shows’ for tables and figures is too frequently employed.
- Figure 7. Insert after text citation.
In summary and as stated above, this is a competent and well-presented manuscript. It is certainly appropriate for Remote Sensing.
