The manuscript is original due to its theme and it is appropriate for this journal. In addition, the manuscript is properly structured and drafted, its design is right and statistical analysis seems appropriate to me.

The paper by Wang et al. presents an original and interesting research work about the validation of the DQQ sentinel foods for Chinese children and adolescents aged 7–18 years. Furthermore, the authors evaluate the associations of the GDR scores with overweight and obesity.
The Introduction section contains a brief background that clearly defines the objectives of the work and its meaning . The Materials and methods part is well-described and explained. The study sample is representative as it includes 1501 children and adolescents aged 7–18 years from the 2011 wave of a national cross-sectional analysis, the CHNS. The methodologies and the data collection are adequately performed and clearly described. The figures and tables are used appropriately and the results are described comprehensively. The conclusions are supported by the results presented and highlight the importance and relevance of the study. The authors also explain all the limitations of the study.
Finally, the manuscript reports an interesting research and it appears exhaustive and to be well structured and complete.
