Real-Time Monitoring and Simultaneous Verification of Water Percolation Using Electrical Resistivity Tomography and Photography Techniques
Round 1

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe study presents a method for real-time monitoring and simultaneous verification of water percolation. It is well established that this is a problem in infrastructure and underground engineering and under this prism the study is of high importance. The manuscript is well written and the methodology well explained. I have some comments that would add value to the paper:
1. There are some grammar errors (e.g., verificationof, anarrow in the Abstract).
2. Do not use their long expressions after abbreviations (e.g., Electrical Resistivity Tomography, ERT).
3. Formula has a duplicate number (Eq. (3)).
4. The figure title format is not centered (e.g., Figure3).
5. The final sentence in section 2.1 Method: "Using the relationship between soil resistivity and moisture content in Eq.3, we can qualitatively assess the percolation of water" would benefit from additional elaboration.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe paper addresses the need for monitoring and verifying water percolation in soil. The authors propose the use of electrical resistivity tomography and photography techniques to visualize and verify the water percolation process. The paper provides a clear introduction to the importance of understanding water percolation and the challenges involved in real-time monitoring. The authors also discuss traditional methods used for discerning moisture content and monitoring water percolation in soil.
To improve the paper, I would suggest the following:
1. Provide more details about the experimental setup and methodology used for the proposed approach, this will help readers understand the implementation of electrical resistivity tomography and photography techniques.
2. Include more information about the results and findings of the study, since presenting data and analysis will strengthen the paper's credibility and allow readers to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
3. Consider discussing the limitations and potential applications of the proposed method, as addressing the potential challenges or constraints will provide a more comprehensive understanding of the research.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe presented article is interesting, but questions arise. Considering the way of measurements using various geophysical methods, the electrical resistivity tomography method seems to be the least invasive in the presented case and should give the best results. The experiment's method is unclear, and the presented description does not indicate that it was performed using electrical resistivity tomography.
1. The description in the Method chapter presents the principle of electrical measurement. There is no mention of tomography.
2. For which array is equation 2 presented? It is essential for the correctness and meaning of this equation.
3. Does the WBD-1 parallel electrical instrument automatically perform measurements by changing subsequent electrode pairs? Based on the description, it seems not. The description does not indicate that the measurements were performed using the electrical resistivity tomography method.
4. It is not clearly explained where the corrections of electrical resistivity profiles come from. Are these profiles created based on modeling?
5. The very high resistance values (2000 - 8000Ωm) obtained in the experiment are noteworthy. If the influence of the narrow glass is so great, how reliable are the obtained results?
