Spatial Reconstruction of Traditional Villages towards Synergistic Development in the Fuchun River Basin Based on the Gravity Model
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
In response to the national rural revitalization strategy, achieving balanced development in rural areas has become an important goal for sustainable development. Reconstructing the development space of traditional village clusters can reduce their development gaps and promote coordinated development. Based on the gravity model, this study uses the shortest traffic time and village development quality to construct a spatial connection model of traditional villages in the Fuchun River Basin and uses social network analysis to research the characteristics of its spatial network structure. The study provides theoretical support for optimizing and integrating traditional villages in this region, and has reference value for similar rural areas. However, Minor revision need to be made before the manuscript is accepted.
1. Figure 2 and 4 involve the distribution of villages in the Fuchun River Basin, but the location information of the three main counties is not clearly marked on the figures. It is recommended to label the location information clearly, as in Figure 1, and unify the map format.
2. In the discussion and conclusion sections, the manuscript puts forward some suggestions on the spatial reconstruction of traditional villages. It should be pointed out that the proposed suggestions need to be more targeted based on the research results and findings.
3. The conclusion is the sublimation and summary of the research results. It is suggested that the manuscript deepen the conclusion, not just repeating the results in the previous sections.

1. The abstract lacks the time range of the research and the source of data. The first sentence is unclear -what do the Authors mean?
2. Keywords require rethinking, e.g. rural revitalization (is it a keyword considering the content of the manuscript).
3. The weakness of the introduction is the presentation of the research problem - the question arises what is the main research problem of the study; the doubt also concerns the title of the manuscript, whether it is of a problem nature.
4. Moreover, the introduction lacks explanation of the basic terms used. The context of using the term 'network' requires clarification.
5. The main goal is missing in relation to the research questions posed. The way of presenting the research questions needs to be clarified (lines 113-122).

The subject matter of the article is interesting and can be considered in two variants. The first concerns the subject of a popular research area of sustainable rural development scientists. Second, taking a unique approach to the research area using a gravity model.
The strengths of the manuscript are:
• choice of topic, I think it is current and very interesting,
• use of local development theories for own research,
• correctly selected statistical methods,
• extensively described research results on maps what is
especially valuable for recipients from other parts of the world,
properly prepared list of references.
I believe that the article is valuable research material and should be published.
No corrections required.
