Determination of Undercutting Avoidance for Designing the Production Technology of Worm Gear Drives with a Curved Profile
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
1. It is recommended to add existing researches about undercutting avoidance and analyze them in the introduction.
2. Please improve and uniformize the graphical quality of the figures used in the manuscript, since some of them are hard to read (e.g. line width, text and arrows size).
3. What’s the meaning of “Worm Science School” in the introduction?
4. It is suggested that the description of pictures and formulas should be unified in the manuscript, such as “Fig.”, “Figure”.
5. Why can the relative velocity be expressed as Eq. (3)?
6. Why Eq. (13) and Eq. (14) can be obtained for the singular points can appeared on the derived surface Σ2?
7. The English language used through the manuscript is rough at some places. English naming and grammar problems exist in this manuscript, leading to difficult understanding in somewhere.
8. It is recommended that the character format be unified, for example, the subscript letters are unified as italics.
9. What’s the meaning of “zax” in Figure 4?
10. What is the role of Table 1 in the manuscript?
Author Response
Dear Reviewer!
Thank you for your observations. Please see my comments.
-
- It is recommended to add existing researches about undercutting avoidance and analyze them in the introduction.
Response: Thank you for the comment. Several researches were discussed in the introduction, the impact of which on research can be traced in the article.
- Please improve and uniformize the graphical quality of the figures used in the manuscript, since some of them are hard to read (e.g. line width, text and arrows size).
Response: Thanks for your note about the figures. The uniformity of the figures within an applied software, as well as their quality, with their explanations has been checked, without the patented Figure 3.
- What’s the meaning of “Worm Science School” in the introduction?
Response: Thank you for the comment about the Worm Gear Science School, which has been introduced in the 27th row.
- It is suggested that the description of pictures and formulas should be unified in the manuscript, such as “Fig.”, “Figure”.
Response: Thank you for the comment. The unification has taken place.
- Why can the relative velocity be expressed as Eq. (3)?
Response: Thank you for the note. To determine the relative velocity, an improved model and in it smaller format matrices have been presented between rows 107 and 252.
- Why Eq. (13) and Eq. (14) can be obtained for the singular points can appeared on the derived surface Σ2?
Response: The mentioned equations show the disappearance of the velocity vector at the contact points on the surface Σ2.
- The English language used through the manuscript is rough at some places. English naming and grammar problems exist in this manuscript, leading to difficult understanding in somewhere.
Response: Thank you for the note. The English language correctness was prepared by an expert.
- It is recommended that the character format be unified, for example, the subscript letters are unified as italics.
Response: Thank you for the note about the form of characters. The character formats are aligned with our referenced previous scientific research for easier of understanding.
- What’s the meaning of “zax” in Figure 4?
Response: Thank you for the comment to the axial displacement. The definition of zax used in the model has been defined in the row 58.
- What is the role of Table 1 in the manuscript?
Response: Thank you for the question related to Table 1, which has only intended to give an intuition to the result shown in Figure 5 with the coordinates of the points of a contact curve.
