Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this paper, the authors have proposed an improved symmetric zero area conversion method (ISZAC) by combining the ideas of data fusion and passive anti-counterfeiting, which is used for peak searching of spectral lines from X-ray diffraction technology. The authors have shown in experiments and simulations that the improved method has higher accuracy and applicability than the symmetric zero area conversion method (SZAC). Overall, this paper merits its publication in Applied Sciences. The reviewer recommends it to be accepted if the following comments could be properly addressed.

1. In order to claim that the ISZAC method is better than the SZAC method, the authors should compare their performances in the peak search results of real XRD data.

2. The authors stated that the ISZAC method has good expansibility, could the authors provide any results to support this statement?
