Effect of Pressure Regulating Mechanism on Screw Pressing Efficiency and Production Capacity in Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) Juice Extraction
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe manuscript researched the juice yield from sea buckthorn by four spring types and screw rotation speeds. Only the result in juice yield was studied was lack of scientificity and depth. Taste, flavor, physical and chemical indicators, nutritional components and so on must be studied.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThis article is very interesting and addresses key issues regarding process optimization in juice extraction. However, improvements are in need considered all following comments.
1) Fig.1, you showed two pictures of fruits, representing the same thing, you should better change one to a whole tree with land and plant's surroundings.
2) what is the origin of the farm fruit, are they from natural or artificially planted with seeds from outside, and what are the prices for the raw material?
3) how does the pressing screw moves forward and backward? By shifting rotational direction of the motor? From L100, it is not that clearly described how does it decrease the energy consumed in screw press operation, pls combine the figure 2 and illustrate clearly about the energy saving principles.
4)The title of section 2.4 is confusing as it is highly similar to the sections mentioned later. It could be changed to something like "Basic Information of the Experiment Samples". etc. instead.
5) Table 1 and Table 2 are informative. However, I still suggest that you add columns for comparing the basic requirements or the recommended daily intake from health organizations. This addition might bring significant value to your article and potentially increase the citations it receives.
6) The explanation for Figure 10 is not satisfactory. You should explain why spring 4 consumes less energy yet achieves the highest juice pressing rate. Additionally, explain why spring 3 has the smallest spring force and weight but is not the energy-saving one?
7) What are the benefits from the Mathematical description of pressure self-regulation? Is it a tool for optimizing the spring or other designs, or just merely a verification? You may need to add concrete analysis based on the calculation.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe work submitted for review entitled Effect of Pressure Regulating Mechanism on Screw Pressing Ef- 2 ficiency and Production Capacity in Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae 3 rhamnoides) Juice Extraction fits into the scope of the journal, but before publication it should be corrected. My suggestions are as follows: 1. How was the pressure in the chamber read or calculated? 2. I suggest changing the linear graphs to column graphs or possibly with a trend line. 3. There are no results of statistical analysis on the results of power, pressure, efficiency measurements.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe authors developed an upgraded screw press with a self-regulating pressure adjustment mechanism and tested the effects of four different spring types and different screw rotation speeds on juice yield, compression density, internal pressure and energy consumption. It was shown that the efficiency of sea buckthorn juice extraction could be significantly improved by fine-tuning the mechanical parameters while reducing the energy consumption, which is of great significance for food engineering and industrial practice. However, the following problems still exist:
1. Line 147 does not require a space between numbers and ℃, please check the whole text and correct it.
2. The title of the Results and Discussion section is not consistent with the paragraph and other sections, please standardize the formatting of the symbols in Table 1, and please harmonize the need for spaces between numbers and symbols in Table 2 with Table 1, please check the whole text and correct it.
3. Please explain why part of line 353 is bolded.
4. The section on 5. Conclusions should read 4. Conclusions.
5. The article was not compared with other extraction techniques, which limits the full understanding of the advantages of the proposed method.
6. It is recommended to further explore the feasibility of the upgraded screw press in industrial scale applications and its applicability to other types of fruit and vegetable raw materials.
7. The referenced references are old, please increase the percentage of references in the last five years.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe article sent for re-review under the title "Effect of Pressure Regulating Mechanism on Screw Pressing Efficiency and Production Capacity in Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae 3 rhamnoides) Juice Extraction" still requires corrections. The authors of the paper have corrected the figure by formatting it in the form of columns, but without specifying what the statistical markers on the columns mean. The remaining figures have not been changed, remaining in the arrangement of points connected by a line. However, it is not known how the efficiency between 140 and 155 or 155 and 170 is presented. In addition, such figures are illegible, on which the ordinate axis is the data values and the statistical deviation
