Mitigation of Platinum Depletion in Platinum Diffused Single Phase Bond Coat on CMSX-4 Superalloy
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
This is an interesting and original article concerning modified Pt-diffused bond coats with single phase (γ or γ’) made by applying selective etching on CMSX-4 single crystal superalloys prior to the electroplating of Pt. The introduction is well written, the prices of the TBC materials, especially platinum, emphasize the practical purpose of the research. The authors very clearly determined the aim of the study. Chapter 2, Materials and Methods, provides detailed information and a description of the procedures used. The paper is well written - clear motivation, explanations, references are correct. Figures are very good quality. The invention of Pt-diffused single γ’- phase implies great potential in terms of oxidation resistance and cost savings.
I recommend the paper for publication.
