Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The article has a topical topic and is written at a high scientific level. However, there are some comments that need to be corrected. Therefore, I recommend Minor revision.

Comments:

- I invite the authors to reAuthor Contributions: to the introduction several publications

Guzanová, A., Brezinová, J., Draganovská, D., Maruschak, P.O. Properties of coatings created by HVOF technology using micro-and nano-sized powder, Koroze a Ochrana Materialu, (2019) 63 (2), pp. 86-93, doi: 10.2478/kom-2019-0011

Romanov D., Moskovskii S., Konovalov S., Sosnin K., Gromov V., Ivanov Y. Improvement of copper alloy properties in electro-explosive spraying of ZnO-Ag coatings resistant to electrical erosion, Journal of Materials Research and Technology, (2019) 8 (6), pp. 5515-5523.

  • Author Contributions: not described.

- In the article microhardness is analyzed. But the methodological aspects of its measurement are not described. In addition, the word “hardness” is found many times among the authors, although there are no data on hardness in the article.

I think the authors need to understand that hardness and microhardness are different parameters. They describe material properties at different scale levels. Please look at the article by Dr. Okipny: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11015-013-9680-6

It is incorrect to use them as synonyms. We need to fix this.

Reviewer 2 Report

I have following recommendations:

  1. Experimental Procedure
  • Why was cermet powder selected as the coating material WC-10Ni-5Cr?
  • Separate the section „Materials and Methods“ and „Results“
  • The chemical composition coating material and the substrate must be indicated in the table
  • Experiment device: It is necessary to add the exact names of all used the devices, companies, cities, states
  • Indicate the number of samples
  • „The normal surface roughness was observed as 6μm“ – what standard and device was used? What roughness parameter is involved?
  • Figure 2. – rework, the appearance of the coating is not visible
  • Use in the text uniformly Figure 2, Figure 3...no Fig No. 2, Fig. 2 and Table 2 no Table No. 2.
  • „The four main factors (F, O, S, L) were selected based on the experiment results“. What results are involved? Explain the meaning of F, O, S, L
  • Table 2 - Hardness of Vickers indicate HV. Is it hardness or microhardness?
  • Table 3 – improve the quality of the images and select only some examples.

The English language and grammar needs improvement.

Author Contributions, Funding: Please add, Acknowledgments – to complete

Your work is valuable, but can be and should be better presented. Thus, for aforementioned reasons, I herewith recommend minor revision.
