Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript well described the multifactorial interconnection of immune activation and HIV-1 infection. It is well organized and provided an insightful review of various aspect of immune activation in HIV infected patients.

Author Response

We are grateful to the reviewer for the kind comment.

Reviewer 2 Report

Altogether this is a comprehensive and well-referenced review of the topic.  The case of non-HIV associated  immune activation that has been observed in chronic helminthic infection should have been added to the review in support of the role  immune activation as such plays  in CD4 depletion.
