A Review of Cooling Studies on Gas Turbine Rotor Blades with Rotation
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The last word of the title "bladesitle" seems to be a typo.
The paper, especially section 2, should be clarified concerning the presented equations and the symbols used. For example, changing between bold and normal font regarding the same quantity confuses the reader.
Please improve this section according to your best virtue and make the text in section 2 as clear as possible.

We sincerely appreciate for the kindness of Reviewer #1. Our responses to the comments are itemized as follows. The modifications to respond the comments from Reviewer #1 are indicated as the blue prints in the revised manuscript.
- The last word of the title "bladesitle" seems to be a typo.
We apologize for the typo. Considering Comment 2 of Reviewer #3 for including the word “rotation” in the title, we modified the title into “A review of cooling study for gas turbine rotor blades with rotation”.
- The paper, especially section 2, should be clarified concerning the presented equations and the symbols used. For example, changing between bold and normal font regarding the same quantity confuses the reader. Please improve this section according to your best virtue and make the text in section 2 as clear as possible.
Thank you for the suggestion.
Following the suggestion of Reviewer #3 (Comment 3), we add additional space between the equations and between equations and text. The fond of the quantity is also unified.
Reviewer 2 Report
The paper is a really good piece of work with an ample analysis of relevant references. The presentation of scientific and technical aspects in relation to the cooling flow behaviour and heat transfer process related to the architectures and geometries of the channels is very well organized.
Even if I ‘m not a top qualified English language judge, I can state that the English language shows some deficiencies that must be eliminated. It is required a revision by an expert of scientific English.

Thank you very much for the kind comment.

Thank you for the suggestion.
We have gone through the grammar check and correct the English deficiencies throughout the manuscript. The corrections are indicated as the pink prints in the revised manuscript.
Reviewer 3 Report
very good review paper. Very good structure, logical, fluent, and smooth English. Scientifically sound review and analysis.
I recommend acceptance as is.
I only have a few minor comments:
1. spelling mistake in the title?
2. since rotation is a key aspect of this paper, it would be a good idea to add this to the title
3. I would recommend throughout the paper to add additional space between the equations and between equations and text. It is a little bit too busy and dense
4. improve the quality of Fig. 6, 12
5. I would be curious if the authors could propose a strategy to make non-rotating data useful for design of the rotor cooling stages

I only have a few minor comments:
- spelling mistake in the title?
Sorry for the typo. As our response to comment 1 of Reviewer #1, the title is modified as “A review of cooling study for gas turbine rotor blades with rotation”.
- since rotation is a key aspect of this paper, it would be a good idea to add this to the title
Thank you for the suggestion. The modified title includes “rotation”.
- I would recommend throughout the paper to add additional space between the equations and between equations and text. It is a little bit too busy and dense.
As our response to comment 1 of Reviewer #1, we have followed the kind suggestion to add an additional space between the equations and between equations and texts.
- improve the quality of Fig. 6, 12.
Thanks for the suggestion.
In the revised Fig. 6, the blurred texts are re-produced to enhance the clarity. (please see the revised manuscript)
Fig. 12 is reproduced with the improved clarity. (please see the revised manuscript)
Revised Fig. 6
Revised Fig. 12
- I would be curious if the authors could propose a strategy to make non-rotating data useful for design of the rotor cooling stages.
Thank you for the innovative thought.
The non-rotating heat transfer data is referred to as Nu0 in the manuscript. When the heat transfer rate in a rotating channel is expressed as the Nusselt number ratio between the rotating and static channels as Nu/Nu0, the Nu/Nu0 ratios tend to be weakly dependent on Re, except for the rotating channel with fluid mixings by adding the auxiliary flow to merge with the mainstream of coolant flow. As a result, equation (14) is yielded to
Nu/Nu0 = Φ{ Ro, Bu, Pr, boundary conditions} (A)
When the Nu/Nu0 data for a rotating channel is derived as the function of Re and Bu, the Nusselt number of a rotating channel is obtained by multiplying the correlated ratio of Nu/Nu0 with Nu0 (non-rotating data). It is not practical to find an analogy between the Nu and Nu0 as the effects of Ro and Bu on the forced heat convection are geometry and boundary-condition dependent.
