Photophysical Properties of Anthracene Derivatives
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
In this tutorial review, the authors introduce the principle of photophysical process for organic compounds. Especially, anthracene and its derivatives are presented and discussed as examples. I do believe the background knowledge, such as fluorescence and Jablonski diagram, could be find in any textbook of photo-physics. So, I would like suggest to accept this review paper for publication after careful revision. Generally, every data and picture appeared in the manuscript should be carefully checked.
For example,
Page 16, first paragraph, in the text “the singlet excited state (S1) and of the triplet excited state (T1) are in close proximity (Scheme 3, left) ”. However, in the Scheme 3, the S1 close to T2. Could the author label the S1 and T1 energy level of Antheracene and diphenylanthracene exactly?

Dear Reviewer
Thank you for your proofreading.
I made some changes.
Reviewer 2 Report
This manuscript is a tutorial article by Fromm et al. describing general introductions and photophysical properties of anthracene derivatives as concrete examples. The introductory part is instructive and suitable for the reading even for undergraduate students. The authors introduce typical and recent examples of the studies of optical properties of anthracene derivatives in sections 3.3-3.8. The manuscript seems to be suitable for publication, but there are so many points to be corrected, writing, terminology, graphics, nomenclature, symbol and units, abbreviations, and editorial consistencies, listed in the pdf file.
