Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Plants have always accompanied humans on this planet, with the oldest reports of herbal plants dating back to around 3000 BC in Mesopotamia. Initially, people collected plants from natural sites, especially from the environment around them; however, over time, they began to consciously cultivate and use them for specific purposes. Currently, plants are used in medicine, phytotherapy, cosmetics and the food industry. Due to the growing demand, the cultivation of these plants, both conventional and organic, has been becoming increasingly widespread. In addition, herbal and aromatic plants are a valuable source of important biologically active substances and, therefore, an extremely interesting subject of scientific research.

In this Special Issue of Agronomy, we will present modern and up-to-date research regarding the cultivation of herbal and aromatic plants and their practical use in agriculture and the food industry. We also encourage the submission of manuscripts relevant to the relationship between plant growing in specific systems and the content of secondary metabolites. We also invite scholars to submit original research and review articles related to the use of herbal and aromatic plants in the modern economy.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
