Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Over the past two decades, the scientific community has grown increasingly concerned about the effects of indoor air quality on human health, especially as people spend more time indoors. While external air pollution often receives the most attention, indoor air can be equally or even more polluted. Maintaining good indoor air quality is crucial for a healthy indoor environment and significantly impacts human health and well-being. Poor air quality in enclosed spaces can lead to respiratory diseases, particularly affecting vulnerable groups. In the context of the current pandemic, addressing indoor air quality has become even more urgent to mitigate its impacts.

This Special Issue aims to delve into the relationship between indoor air and human health. It will highlight the latest research findings on how various indoor pollutants affect health outcomes and will explore innovative solutions for improving IAQ. The issue will cover a wide range of topics related to IAQ, including the health effects of particulate matter (PM), gaseous pollutants (i.e., carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, formaldehyde, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and emerging contaminants (e.g., microplastics, poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances).

Potential authors are encouraged to contribute original research, reviews, and case studies that offer valuable contributions to this crucial issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Atmosphere is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
