Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Mental health problems are highly prevalent among children and young people worldwide. Surveys show that around 20% of children and young people are affected by mental health problems. Mental health problems have a negative impact on the lives of children and young people and are associated with poorer academic performance, lower satisfaction with friendships, lower self-confidence, poor sleep, and suicide risk. Despite having mental health problems, many children and young people do not seek help or receive psychiatric and psychological services. Reasons for this include the limited availability of age-specific interventions, social stigmatization, high service cost, and a preference for self-help. This highlights the need to develop digital interventions accessible anytime, anywhere, anonymous, and less stigmatizing.

In this Special Issue, digital interventions include interventions that utilize different types of technologies such as mobile apps, virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, smartphones, smart glasses, and other wearable devices, etc., while the target groups may include children and young people as well as their family caregivers from different demographic, clinical and cultural backgrounds. This Special Issue aims to present the latest developments, innovations, implementations, systematic reviews, and ethical issues in the field. We invite researchers, academics, and professionals to submit high-quality original manuscripts for publication.
