Molecular Microbiology
A section of Current Issues in Molecular Biology (ISSN 1467-3045).
Section Information
The section on Molecular Microbiology in Current Issues in Molecular Biology publishes original research on microbes, including bacteria, archaea, eukaryotic microorganisms, and viruses of any host. This encompasses all areas of microbiology, from fundamental basic mechanisms to translational or applied research if the investigation addresses a basic mechanism of molecular microbiology. Among the topics included are mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance, vaccine development, evolution of host–pathogen interactions, microbial ecology and comparative microbiology of various hosts and genomics.
Topics covered in the Molecular Microbiology section of Current Issues in Molecular Biology include, but are not limited to:
- Microbiota genetics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics;
- Molecular research of gut microbiota;
- Vaccines and vaccine development;
- Interaction with the immune system;
- Multidrug resistance profiles of microbiota;
- Microbial mutagenesis;
- Antimicrobial agents and resistance;
- Molecular mechanism of bacteria/virus-induced infectious diseases;
- Microorganisms related to the brain–gut axis;
- Veterinary microbiology;
- Zoonotic diseases;
- Parasitology;
- Plant–microbe interactions;
- Virology;
- Microbial analysis technology;
- Gene expression and its regulation;
- Food microbiology;
- Systems microbiology.
The plan is to continue to evaluate worthy manuscripts reporting unique investigations in the field of molecular microbiology. The editorial board welcomes new submissions to the journal Current Issues in Molecular Biology for the section Molecular Microbiology.
