Dear Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to be the Guest Editor of this Special Issue dedicated to “Cancer in Gestation”. Cancer during pregnancy is not commonly diagnosed, but it can happen. In fact, thousands of cancers occur during pregnancies each year in the United States and worldwide. The most common types of cancer found during pregnancy are, understandably, similar to the most common cancers in younger women. They include breast, cervical, thyroid, colon, and ovarian cancers, as well as melanoma, lymphoma, and leukemia. Although it is less common, someone might become pregnant while receiving treatment for cancer. If this happens, the approach to treatment is the same as if the cancer was diagnosed during pregnancy. During pregnancy, it can sometimes be hard to know if body changes derive from the pregnancy or from cancer. Because of these challenges, when cancer develops during a pregnancy, it is often diagnosed at a more advanced stage than it would be otherwise. We all know that treatment goals are the same as they would be if patients were not pregnant to cure the cancer if possible, or to control it and stop it from spreading. However, our treatment options will likely be more complicated because the treatment team will need to balance giving patients the best treatment for cancer while also considering the baby. Given the relevance of the subject, I warmly invite you to submit your contribution.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Current Oncology is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
