Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Ubiquitous computing and mobile computing have profoundly transformed the way we interact with the physical world, providing seamless integration of computation into everyday objects and activities. This pervasive computing paradigm allows for the development of intelligent environments and smart devices, offering unprecedented levels of convenience and efficiency, as well as personalized experiences. The importance of this research area is underscored by the rapid advancement of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), mobile and wearable devices, and mobile health, which collectively contribute to the realization of smart cities, healthcare innovations, and enhanced user interfaces.

The aim of this Special Issue is to bring together cutting-edge research that explores recent developments, challenges, and future trends in ubiquitous computing and mobile computing. We encourage the submission of original research articles and reviews on, but not limited to, the following themes:

  • Mobile Health: innovations and applications in mobile health technologies, including telemedicine, vital sign monitoring, and mobile health monitoring.
  • Novel Applications of Wireless Signals: exploring new and creative uses of wireless signals for communication and sensing.
  • Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI for Mobile and Wireless Systems: the application of advanced AI techniques, including LLMs and generative AI, to enhance mobile and wireless systems.
  • Sensing with Radio, Light, and Acoustics: research on using various sensing modalities to gather data and provide insights in ubiquitous computing environments.
  • IoT and Smart Environments: innovations in IoT technologies, applications in smart homes, smart cities, and environmental monitoring.
  • Wireless Networking: Advances in wireless networking technologies, protocols, and architectures to support reliable and efficient communication in ubiquitous computing systems. Innovations in LPWAN technologies and their applications in IoT and ubiquitous computing.
  • Security and Privacy: studies addressing the security and privacy challenges in ubiquitous and mobile computing environments.

We look forward to receiving valuable contributions and insights that will foster advancements in ubiquitous and mobile computing.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
