Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Urban well-being and sustainable development have been widely discussed in recent years. In the process of rapid urbanization, many urban environmental problems have become increasingly prominent, such as air pollution, urban heat island and urban waterlogging, each of which has posed a serious threat to the health and well-being of urban residents. In addition, with the growth of the urban population, the demand of urban residents for the provisions of high-quality services for the city is also increasing. The frequent occurrence of multiple problems has seriously violated the basic concept of urban sustainable development. Therefore, how to improve the ecological service function of the city, enhance the residents' happiness, and make the city achieve real sustainable development is a major problem that requires immediate solutions. We hope that researchers in relevant fields will deeply analyze the internal links, influencing factors, measurement methods, evaluation standards, etc. between urban well-being and sustainable development from multi-disciplinary and multi-level perspectives. In particular, we encourage the exploration of innovative research ideas and methods to improve the current mode of urban development and enhance resident happiness.

This Special Issue includes but is not limited to the following topics:

  1. The relationship between urban sustainable development and human well-being;
  2. Urban infrastructure and residents' behavior;
  3. Analysis of residents' demand for urban ecosystem services and its spatial heterogeneity;
  4. Urban greening, land use and subjective well-being;
  5. Influencing factors and driving mechanism of urban sustainable development;
  6. Innovative data and methods for assessing urban well-being;
  7. Policy effects of urban sustainable development.
