Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Urban–rural integration is increasingly recognized as a crucial element for sustainable development, particularly as urban areas expand and rural regions evolve. This integration is vital for addressing challenges such as climate change, resource management, and social equity. Urban ecosystems play a pivotal role in this context, providing essential services and contributing to the resilience of both urban and rural environments. Understanding the dynamics between urban and rural areas can lead to innovative strategies that enhance sustainability and improve quality of life.

This Special Issue aims to explore the multifaceted relationships between urban and rural environments, focusing on how integrated approaches can foster resilient urban ecosystems. It aligns with the journal's scope by promoting interdisciplinary research that contributes to sustainable urban planning and policymaking.

We invite contributions that delve into various aspects of urban–rural integration, including but not limited to the following:

  • Ecosystem services and their impact on urban–rural dynamics;
  • Policy frameworks supporting integration;
  • Case studies of successful urban–rural collaboration;
  • Socio-economic implications of urban–rural connections;
  • Innovative technologies for enhancing integration.

Article types may include original research articles, reviews, case studies, and policy analyses. We encourage submissions that provide diverse perspectives and methodologies, fostering a rich dialogue in this vital area of research.
