Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In recent decades, digital technologies in dentistry have evolved more and more.
The technology has improved every type of dental treatment, from implantology to orthodontics. In particular, CAD/CAM technology has had a positive impact on both the field of diagnostics and in the treatment phase. Nowadays, thanks to dedicated software, it is possible to acquire and process data as well as produce different types of devices and dental prostheses. Through scanners, it is possible to acquire digital images with direct or indirect methods. Three-dimensional radiological images can be processed and superimposed on models of digital arches in order to design the correct positioning of implants or to perform indirect bonding in orthodontics. Using dedicated software, it is possible to perform angular and linear measurements as well as the overlapping of arches before, during, and after treatments to perform different evaluations of the accuracy and reliability of treatments. We are facing the digital age, and I invite all colleagues to share in this Special Issue the work that they are carrying out to make progress in the knowledge of digital techniques in dentistry.
