Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The practical repercussions of the exploration of the use of nanoscale systems for biomedical applications have led to a scenario in which many nanotools that have realistic applications in the field of therapy can be developed. Currently, in a strategically natural way, the evolution of nanosystems used for medical therapies is focused on optimizing their multifunctionality to identify increasingly specific and effective functions.

For this Special Issue, we request manuscripts that demonstrate the multifunctional evolution of nanosystems with potential therapeutic applicability and provide remarkable explanations of nanoscale phenomena in order to optimize nanoplatforms.

For this Special Issue, multifunctionality could be seen as manifested in the surface configuration of different nanosystems, including polymeric or amphiphilic self-assembling structures and metallic or iron oxide nanoparticles. Similarly, multifunctionality can also be established based on the diverse nature of the molecular, protein or genomic complexes that have been incorporated into nanoplatforms. This concept can lead to the development of a final system that presents different functionalization pathways and has direct potential applications in therapy.

In summary, ever-more multifunctional nanoplatforms have been developed, and therapeutic and diagnostic applications are the culmination of this innovation process. Therefore, this Special Issue is intended to form a part of the next generation of literature that is needed to create increasingly optimized designs in the field of nanoscale medical technology.

This Special Issue is supervised by Dr. Gerardo Prieto, who is assisted by our Topical Advisory Panel Member Dr. Vicente Domínguez Arca (Spanish Research Council (IIM-CSIC)).

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
