Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The Special Issue, titled "Molecular Studies on Oral Disease and Treatment" aims to explore the latest advancements in the molecular diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of oral diseases. This collection of articles brings together cutting-edge research that addresses the multifaceted challenges in oral health care from a molecular standpoint.
Oral diseases, including dental caries, periodontal diseases, oral cancer, oral mucosal lesions, and temporomandibular joint disorders, continue to pose significant health challenges globally. These conditions not only affect oral health but also have broader implications for overall health and quality of life. This Special Issue highlights innovative approaches in early molecular detection, novel therapeutic strategies targeting specific molecular pathways, and the integration of advanced technologies in oral health practices.
Contributions from leading researchers provide comprehensive insights into the molecular pathogenesis of oral diseases, including the roles of genetics, microbiomes, and environmental factors. The latest developments in pharmacological treatments targeting molecular mechanisms and non-pharmacological interventions that influence molecular pathways are also emphasized.
By disseminating this knowledge, the Special Issue aims to enhance the understanding among healthcare professionals and researchers, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes and advancements in oral health care from a molecular perspective. Please note that papers published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences are encouraged to include results at the molecular level. Both original research articles and reviews on these topics are welcome.
This Special Issue is supervised by Dr. Daniela Adamo, and assisted by our Topical Advisory Panel Member Dr. Canfora Federica (University of Naples Federico II).

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
