Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cardiovascular disease in children is an important medical and health-care-related issue; congenital heart disease and dilated cardiomyopathy are the leading causes of heart failure in children and the primary reason for cardiac transplantation. A number of researchers are already investigating the causes and consequences of heart failure in children, as well as approaches to manage it effectively. Basic, translational and clinical studies have already greatly increased our understanding of this disease; however, there is often limited collaboration between different disciplines. In this Special Issue of JCDD, titled “Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Disease”, we welcome review papers that summarize the current knowledge of the molecular and cellular processes, as well as novel therapies and disease management, in this population. This issue is open to reviews focused on basic, translational and clinical research on the mechanisms of cardiac disease and therapeutic approaches in the pediatric population, providing a summary of the significant scientific contributions in the field.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
