Dear Colleagues,
During the past several decades, coordination compounds, especially coordination polymers and metal–organic frameworks attracted a huge interest due to their specific properties and application potential in various fields, including separation, catalysis, electronics, and many others. By using biocompatible components, the range of applications further extends to enantiomeric separations, drug delivery, and non-linear optics. In the last couple of years, hybrid metal–organic compounds have provided new opportunities and brought challenges, especially among the multiferroic materials.
Much of their unique properties arise from their well-defined and ordered polymeric structures, which are dictated by the coordination preferences of the metal ion nodes and the geometry and nature of the organic bridging ligands. Careful choice of the two results in a huge variety of topologies and materials with high porosity and long-term stability.
Taken altogether, through this Issue, we would like to highlight the importance of coordination compounds in everyday life and to address how new approaches can be turned into in successful quest of finding new materials with tunable properties. The field is very broad and exciting, and we encourage scientists to submit their results to Magnetochemistry.

Magnetochemistry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
