Special Issue Information
Dear Colleague,
In the rapidly advancing realm of materials science and engineering, the exploration and development of microscale technologies are creating ripples of transformation. These innovations at the microscale are playing pivotal roles in various industries, offering precision, efficiency, and scalability like never before. Recognizing the significance of this evolution, Micromachines Magazine is gearing up for a Special Issue focused solely on the field of Materials and Processing at the Microscale.
For this initiative, we hope to amass a collection of state-of-the-art research, pioneering techniques, and visionary insights that showcase the depth and breadth of advancements in microscale materials and processing.
Thus, we cordially invite esteemed researchers and professionals like you to contribute your expertise and knowledge through research papers or review articles on the following key themes:
- Novel materials developed for microscale applications and their groundbreaking properties;
- Advanced fabrication and processing techniques tailored for micromachines;
- Innovative design and integration strategies for microscale devices;
- Theoretical and computational models shedding light on microscale materials' behavior and processing dynamics.
By participating in this Special Issue, you'll be at the forefront of shaping the discourse around microscale materials and processing, potentially paving the way for the next wave of technological breakthroughs.
We genuinely hope to feature your valuable contributions and look forward to a thought-provoking collection of works.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Micromachines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
